AZZALURE (Botulinum Toxin Type A)
What Azzalure is what is it used for?
Azzalure contains a substance, botulinum toxin A, which causes muscles to relax. Azzalure acts at the junction between the nerves and muscle to prevent the release of a chemical messenger called acetylcholine from the nerve endings. This prevents muscles from contracting. The muscle relaxation is temporary and gradually wears off. Some people are distressed when lines appear on their face. Azzalure can be used in adults under 65 years to temporarily improve the appearance of any moderate to severe glabellar lines. These are vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, horisontal forehead lines and lines around the eyes (crows feet).
What is botulinum toxin treatment?
Botulinum toxin A is a naturally occurring bacterial protein. Tiny doses of this substance are injected just under the skin into the muscles that are treated to reduce wrinkles. it specifically blocks the nerve impulse, allowing these muscles responsible for the excessive contractions that cause wrinkles to relax. Other nerve functions – such as the skin’s sense of touch – are not affected. The procedure causes minimal discomfort and you may resume normal activities very soon after the treatment.

Questions and Answers
Q. What is Botulinum Toxin or Botox?
A. Botulinum Toxin (BTX) has been used for over 25 years and is a type of purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is very safe and is injected directly into facial muscles in very tiny amounts during treatment.
Q. How does it work?
A. Botulinum Toxin (BTX) works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the facial muscles that have been injected. This makes the muscles less active and therefore softens and smoothes the appearance of persistent lines and wrinkles.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
A. In most cases patients can see a real difference after one treatment. This is because Botulinum Toxin (BTX) works gradually, smoothing and softening lines and wrinkles for up to 4 months. Every face is unique of course and we’ll advise you on how many treatments you’re like to need and how often, depending on the results you’d like to achieve.
Q. How long does Botulinum Toxin (BTX) work for?

Q. Is the treatment painful?
A. it’s very rare for treatment with Botulinum Toxin (BTX) to be painful. Most patients experience a feeling of slight discomfort if at all during the treatment itself but that’s all. Rest assured we will talk you through what to expect before your first injection, so you’ll be fully prepared prior to treatment.
Q. Can I go to work after the procedure?
A. With BTX injections at worst you will have a little redness which will subside after a few hours.
